Position Summary
The Vice President / General Manager (VP/GM) is responsible for the full P&L leadership, strategic direction, and operational performance of a packaging manufacturing business unit. This role oversees all aspects of operations, including production, sales, supply chain, safety, and financial performance, with a strong emphasis on driving growth, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in paper and/or fibre-based packaging, along with a track record of scaling manufacturing operations and leading high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute short- and long-term business strategies aligned with corporate objectives
- Identify growth opportunities across markets, products, and customer segments
- Lead capital investment planning, including equipment upgrades and capacity expansion
- Monitor industry trends, particularly in sustainable and fibre-based packaging solutions
- Oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost control
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Optimize supply chain, procurement, and inventory management
- Own full P&L responsibility, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost management
- Deliver revenue growth and margin expansion targets
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
- Drive talent development, succession planning, and workforce engagement
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field (MBA preferred)
- 10–15+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior executive role
- Strong experience in packaging manufacturing; paper/fibre experience highly preferred
- Proven track record of P&L ownership and delivering financial results
- Corrugated packaging, paper mills, or fibre-based products
- Multi-site operational leadership
- Exposure to sustainability initiatives and eco-friendly packaging solutions
