The Senior Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for leading and continuously improving Serverfarm’s EHS programs across U.S. data center operations. This role provides strategic and hands-on leadership to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a proactive safety culture across construction, operations, and corporate teams.

The Senior Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for leading and continuously improving Serverfarm’s EHS programs across U.S. data center operations. Responsibilities
EHS Leadership & Strategy
- Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive EHS programs aligned with OSHA, EPA, and state/local regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for EHS across data center operations, construction projects, and vendor activities.
- Establish KPIs, metrics, and reporting dashboards to track performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and applicable state and local regulations.
- Manage environmental permitting, reporting, and compliance programs (air, water, waste, hazardous materials).
- Lead regulatory inspections, audits, and agency interactions.
- Develop and maintain EHS dashboards, reports, and management review summaries.
- Track KPIs and trends to support continuous improvement and executive-level decision-making.
- Provide regular updates to operations leadership on EHS performance and emerging risks.
- Conduct hazard analyses, job safety analyses (JSAs), and risk assessments for data center operations and construction activities.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans.
- Oversee contractor safety programs and enforce compliance with Serverfarm standards.
- Design and deliver EHS training programs for employees, contractors, and site leadership.
- Promote a strong safety culture through engagement, communication, and leadership presence at sites.
- Mentor site-level EHS resources and operational leaders.
- Support environmental initiatives including waste reduction, energy efficiency, water stewardship, and sustainability reporting.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to align EHS objectives with broader ESG goals.
- Work closely with Operations, Construction, Engineering, Facilities, Legal, and Risk Management teams.
- Support due diligence activities for new data center developments and acquisitions.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8-12+ years of progressive EHS experience, preferably in data centers, mission-critical facilities, construction, industrial, or energy environments.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and environmental permitting requirements.
- Proven experience leading EHS programs across multiple sites.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent.
- Experience supporting large-scale construction projects and contractor-heavy environments.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Experience integrating EHS into ESG or sustainability frameworks.
- Role involves significant travel (approximately 50%)
