About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Rail Key Account Director to lead strategic client relationships and drive business growth within the rail industry. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on managing key accounts, expanding business opportunities, and delivering tailored solutions to major rail clients.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in the rail/locomotive domain, strong commercial acumen, and a proven track record of managing large accounts and closing complex deals.

Key Responsibilities Client Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers in the rail industry
  • Act as the primary point of contact for existing and prospective clients
  • Conduct regular client meetings to understand business needs and identify growth opportunities

Business Development

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within rail accounts
  • Build and manage a strong sales pipeline to ensure consistent revenue growth
  • Meet and exceed quarterly and annual sales targets

Sales & Negotiation

  • Lead preparation of proposals, contracts, and pricing models
  • Manage complex RFP processes, including compliance with rail safety and regulatory standards
  • Negotiate commercial terms to secure long-term partnerships and large-scale deals

Project Coordination & Delivery

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (operations, logistics, project management)
  • Ensure successful delivery of projects on time and within budget
  • Resolve client issues and maintain high customer satisfaction

Market Intelligence & Strategy

  • Stay updated on rail industry trends, regulations, and innovations
  • Provide strategic insights to leadership on market opportunities and competitive positioning

Reporting & Analytics

  • Track account performance, pipeline, and revenue forecasts
  • Analyze financial and operational metrics to drive profitability

Required Qualifications Experience

  • 10–15 years of experience in rail industry sales, account management, or business development
  • Proven ownership of large accounts ($5M+ portfolio)
  • Strong experience driving large deals and complex sales cycles
  • Experience working with rail OEMs, locomotive design companies, or infrastructure providers
  • Demonstrated success in both account farming and new business development

Technical & Domain Expertise

  • Deep understanding of:
    • Rail operations (freight & passenger)
    • Safety standards and regulatory frameworks
    • Rail industry trends (digitalization, sustainability, automation)
  • Strong experience in RFPs, proposal development, and pricing strategies
Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Transport Management, or related field
  • Master’s degree or relevant certifications (preferred)
