A well-capitalized Independent Power Producer is expanding its U S project delivery team and hiring a Project Manager to lead utility-scale solar, BESS, and hybrid projects from late-stage development through commercial operation. The business owns and operates a substantial portfolio of wind and solar assets across the U S and is actively growing its pipeline. I have successfully placed four people with this business and am proud to continue supporting their growth.
You will take full ownership of project execution across solar PV, BESS, and hybrid projects, managing scope, schedule, budget, risk, and compliance from late-stage development through COD and handover to operations. You will oversee Construction Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and Project Engineers assigned to your projects, and act as the primary interface for internal teams, lenders, utilities, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all phases of project execution including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
- Develop and maintain detailed project execution plans covering scope, schedule, budget, and risk management.
- Manage project budgets and forecasts, coordinate cost and cash flow reporting with finance, and control expenditures throughout delivery.
- Oversee construction execution to ensure compliance with contracts, permits, environmental regulations, safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Manage interconnection agreement tasks and coordinate with utilities on testing, energization, and COD achievement.
- Support lender due diligence and independent engineer reviews during construction and financing activities.
- Coordinate with legal on contract negotiation, supply agreements, and warranties.
- Lead project meetings and provide clear status reporting to internal leadership and external stakeholders.
- Manage seamless project transitions from development into construction and from construction into operations and asset management.
- Oversee project team members and ensure compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.
What You Bring
- 5 or more years of experience managing utility scale renewable energy projects.
- Prior experience as a Project Manager or Owner's Representative on utility scale projects.
- Strong understanding of construction contracting, project controls, scheduling, and cost management.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects or phases simultaneously.
- Ability to interpret project financial reports and prepare cash flow forecasts.
- BESS, hybrid project, or high voltage infrastructure experience is advantageous.
- Familiarity with IRA requirements including domestic content and labor compliance is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline preferred.
- PMP or PE license preferred.
