Role Overview
Crossing Hurdles is sourcing experienced Internal Auditors to contribute to AI training work with Verita AI on a remote, freelance basis. In this role, you will apply your accounting expertise to evaluate AI-generated outputs, surface reasoning errors, and help translate complex audit and financial workflows into structured training data. This is a long-term engagement suited to practitioners with deep knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial operations.
What You Will Do
Evaluate AI-generated outputs for accuracy, reasoning quality, and domain correctness across accounting and audit scenarios
Translate real-world accounting workflows and audit processes into structured tasks for AI training Identify gaps, edge cases, and reasoning errors that only an experienced accounting professional would catch
Document assumptions, thought processes, and professional judgment clearly in written form Provide structured feedback that engineering teams use to improve AI model performance
Domain Focus
Month-end and year-end close processes
Journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
Financial reporting and compliance
GAAP and IFRS application
Audit procedures and internal controls
Requirements
5 to 8 or more years of experience in accounting, internal audit, or financial operations
Strong working knowledge of GAAP; IFRS familiarity is a plus
Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, or QuickBooks
CPA preferred; candidates with equivalent credentialing or demonstrated technical depth will be considered
Ability to articulate complex accounting concepts and judgment calls in clear written form
Work Style and Expectations
All work is asynchronous. There is no fixed schedule, no mandatory meeting cadence, and no time zone requirement. Communication is handled via Slack and internal tooling. A minimum of 10 hours per week is required, with 15 to 20 or more hours per week strongly preferred. Consistent engagement and responsiveness are expected throughout the engagement.
Compensation
$100 to $125 per hour USD, depending on experience
Paid fortnightly via Deel
