Digital Proofreader/Editorial Associate for online content produced by professional-services firm

  • Remote Contract role, East coast hours


The Digital Proofreader/Editorial Associate supports the creation and publication of thought-leadership content on the website of a leading professional-services firm, as well as its dissemination via associated emailings and a mobile app.


The person in this role ensures that all digital assets are proofed, formatted properly, adhere to style guidelines, and support optimal user experience. They will also assist in tracking assets and providing project management support for digital and mobile special projects.


Responsibilities:

  • Proofread and approve emails promoting new content (daily alerts, weekend bundles, curated bundles, special projects).
  • Proofread web content, note any changes or formatting fixes to web producers and article editors, and approve all new material (text articles, exhibits, infographics, videos, interactive features, and other multimedia) posted to the firm’s website.
  • Proofread and approve content on the iOS and Android app.
  • Correct errors until final approval of all assets is secured; learn to work in the group’s content-management system; coordinate deadlines and responsibilities with web production staff.
  • For issues requiring editorial and/or design judgment, work with editors, designers, and web production staff to arrive at optimal solution, and implement.
  • Track and communicate progress of work; identify and problem-solve any roadblocks to successful, on-deadline task completion.
  • Assist in tracking and communicating the status of digital assets (eg, images) and resolving any delays.
  • For select content, provide SEO and taxonomy tags.
  • Provide project management support for special projects such as email testing or content migration.


Required knowledge and skills:

  • Strong copyediting, proofreading, and critical reading skills a must, as are keen attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Strong background in a deadline-oriented editorial production environment is preferable, along with a high comfort level and experience with digital and mobile products. Experience with business or professional-services content a plus.
  • PC proficiency in a Windows environment including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with AI and automation tools a plus; openness to learning how to work with these technologies essential.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, and Illustrator desired. Familiarity with online content management systems (eg, Sitecore) and emailing platforms (eg, Epsilon/DREAM) a plus.
  • Familiarity with The Chicago Manual of Style; able to work with style guides in general.
  • Familiarity with social media apps; able to provide proofing support for social media assets as needed.
  • Short-form writing: There will be opportunities to contribute to curated content bundles and online newsletters; ability to produce lively, engaging short-form content in a quick-turnaround environment a plus.
