• Location: Remote within Canada (occasional onsite in Edmonton as required)
• Hours: Monday–Friday, 08:15 AM – 04:30 PM (Alberta time)
• Contract: Apr 27, 2026 – Nov 30, 2026 (with potential extension up to 24 months)
Role Overview
You will work within cross-functional Agile teams to support service innovation and digital transformation projects, contributing to everything from current-state analysis and backlog refinement to sprint delivery. This role blends data engineering and analytics, enabling the design of scalable data solutions while generating insights that drive better public services.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines (SSIS, ADF, APIs, cloud platforms)
• Ingest, transform, and manage large datasets across on-prem and cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP)
• Optimize ETL workflows, data models, and data storage solutions (data lakes/warehouses)
• Ensure data integrity, quality, governance, and security best practices
• Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights
• Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualizations using BI tools (e.g., Power BI, SaaS VA).
• Conduct statistical analysis and support data-driven decision-making
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (developers, data scientists, business stakeholders)
• Translate business needs into data solutions and communicate insights clearly
• Support Agile delivery, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and iterative releases
Mandatory Qualifications
✔ 5+ years experience as a Data Analyst and/or Data Engineer
✔ 3+ years experience designing dimensional models (star/snowflake schemas)
✔ 3+ years experience developing dashboards and visualizations (Power BI, DAX, Tableau, or Python)
✔ 5+ years experience working with data from on-prem and cloud sources
✔ 3+ years experience ensuring data quality, governance, and security
✔ 2+ years experience performing data migrations (on-prem ↔ cloud / cross-platform)
✔ 3+ years hands-on experience with SSIS, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and APIs
Assets & Preferred Experience
• 2+ years experience with Azure Databricks
• 2+ years experience in advanced analytics (ML, predictive modelling, data mining)
• Experience in government or large enterprise environments
• Experience with programming/scripting languages
• Exposure to AI/ML or NLP use cases
