Job Overview
Our Government of Alberta client is seeking a Senior Communications Specialist / Training Specialist to support the Digital Regulatory Assurance System (DRAS) initiative within Environment & Protected Areas (EPA).
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering training materials, technical documentation, communications, and virtual learning sessions to support successful user adoption of DRAS. This role requires strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Training & Documentation
- Develop and maintain user training materials, job aids, guides, presentations, and technical documentation.
- Create structured virtual training content and supporting learning resources.
- Maintain training repositories and ensure materials remain current and accessible.
- Deliver and support virtual training sessions using Microsoft Teams or similar platforms.
- Facilitate participant engagement and provide post-training support.
- Develop communications and presentations for various stakeholder groups.
- Collaborate with business teams, SMEs, leadership, and project stakeholders.
- Support organizational change and user adoption initiatives.
- Assist with change management deliverables including:
- Communication Plans
- Training Plans
- Stakeholder Impact Assessments
- Communication Plans
- Document user requirements, workflows, and business processes.
- Use feedback and analytics to improve training effectiveness.
- Identify knowledge gaps and recommend training solutions.
- Incorporate business and system changes into learning materials and communications.
Education
Candidates must have ONE of the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree, OR
- Diploma in Business, Communications, Adult Education, or related field PLUS 3 additional years of relevant experience.
- 5+ years creating:
- User training materials
- Technical documentation
- Platform support resources
- User training materials
- 5+ years delivering virtual training sessions using Microsoft Teams or similar tools.
- 5+ years managing multiple initiatives with strict deadlines.
- Experience delivering presentations to executive leadership and end users.
- Experience developing training videos and computer-based learning modules.
- Experience supporting change management initiatives.
- Experience documenting business processes and workflows.
- Strong stakeholder relationship management skills.
- Experience using feedback analytics to improve training materials.
- Primarily remote within Canada
- Occasional onsite meetings in Edmonton, Alberta
- Standard working hours:
- Monday to Friday
- 8:15 AM – 4:30 PM MST
- Monday to Friday
- Background check required
- Candidate must provide their own computer and home office equipment
- Mandatory onboarding training required
