About PracticeWise

Founded in 2004, PracticeWise connects people and knowledge to nurture the health and well-being of youth and families. We train, equip, and serve the professionals working with children and families who are struggling with behavioral health challenges — and we help kids get better, faster. Our flagship system, Managing and Adapting Practice (MAP), brings science and evidence seamlessly into care through research summaries, clinical protocols, dashboards, and outcome measurement.

The numbers behind that mission: 40,000+ users, 7,500+ trained professionals, 600+ partner organizations, 2,000+ research articles synthesized, and the highest sustained delivery volume of any behavioral-health EBP in large public systems. In LA County alone, MAP has supported the treatment of 11,000+ youth across more than 71,000 treatment cycles, with measurable reductions in depression, trauma, anxiety, and disruptive behaviors.

We are a profitable, mission-driven business at an inflection point. The Board has approved a deliberate 2026 investment year to re-platform the company for scale and investor readiness. We are repositioning from a clinician-by-clinician story to a productized solution for system performance — sold to state agencies, provider networks, and large health systems.

About the Role

The Chief Product Officer (CPO) is a member of the executive team and the senior leader accountable for what we build, how we build it, and how customers experience it. The CPO owns three interconnected functions:

  • Product Development — vision, roadmap, design, and clinical product strategy across our subscription, training, research, and review offerings, with MAP anchored as the flagship system.
  • Technology & Engineering — platform architecture, software development, AI and automation, security, and infrastructure — built primarily in-house, with vendor partnerships used deliberately rather than by default.
  • Professional Services — training delivery, implementation, configuration, and the customer-facing work that turns our content and platform into measurable outcomes for agencies and the populations they serve.

This is a builder’s role at a builder’s stage. You will set the unified product and technology vision, stand up the internal engineering capability the company has decided to invest in, and ensure professional services scale efficiently as we expand in our current top states and into new markets.

You will partner closely with the CEO, the VP of Finance & Admin Operations, our scientific and clinical co-founders on the Board, and our commercial, marketing, and account-facing leaders.

What You’ll Do

Product strategy and roadmap

  • Own end-to-end product strategy, grounded in deep understanding of clinical workflows, evidence-based practice, and the operational realities of state-agency and provider-network customers.
  • Translate the science behind the MAP SystemTM and our broader portfolio — measurement-based care, outcome tracking, and protocol-driven treatment — into intuitive, productized software experiences that resonate with system-level buyers.
  • Define and communicate a multi-year product vision and an 18-month roadmap; lead the periodic cross-functional roadmap reviews.

Technology and engineering

  • Establish technology direction: architecture, platform investments, build-vs.-buy decisions, and the responsible adoption of AI/ML where it improves clinician, learner, and youth outcomes.
  • Hire, lead, and grow the engineering team — beginning with the engineers funded in the 2026 plan — and consolidate work from external vendors where strategic ownership matters.
  • Own security, privacy, and compliance posture (HIPAA, SOC 2 readiness) commensurate with serving public-sector behavioral health buyers.
  • Establish operating rhythms — planning, prioritization, delivery, quality — and the metrics that hold them honest.

Professional services, training, and customer outcomes

  • Oversee Professional Services as a first-class part of the product surface: implementation methodology, configuration playbooks, training delivery (including train-the-trainer), and measurable customer outcomes.
  • Own time-to-value, services margin, and customer outcome metrics; ensure services scale with revenue rather than becoming a bottleneck.

Executive partnership

  • Partner with the CEO and VP Finance & Admin Operations on positioning, pricing, packaging, pro-forma planning, and key customer and partner relationships.
  • Participate in building the SaaS-quality financial and operational visibility (ARR, gross margin by offering, renewal rates) that investor readiness requires.
  • Represent PracticeWise externally — with state-agency customers, provider partners, prospective investors, and at industry forums.

Who You Are

  • ~Two decades of experience in technology strategy and product development, with leadership roles at software and digital product companies and time as a Chief Product Officer or equivalent senior executive.
  • Deep experience in healthcare technology, with a clear bias toward behavioral health, digital health, or clinical SaaS. Working knowledge of clinical workflows, provider operations, and HIPAA-grade compliance.
  • First-hand familiarity with measurement-based care, patient-reported outcomes, evidence-based clinical models, or workforce-development platforms — and a point of view on how software best supports them.
  • A track record of co-founding or operating early-stage healthcare companies and growing products from product/market fit through scale; comfort building when things are still being figured out.
  • Demonstrated ability to take a product organization from heavy reliance on outside vendors to a strong internal product and engineering capability — without losing momentum.
  • Experience overseeing professional services or customer implementation in a B2B healthcare or public-sector context — you treat services as a product surface, not an afterthought.
  • Commercial product mindset: comfortable shaping pricing, packaging, and go-to-market alongside the roadmap, and converting research-driven capability into productized offerings system buyers can buy with confidence.
  • Strong UX and design sensibility; you have personally shaped how clinicians, trainers, and learners experience software.
  • Comfortable across depth (architecture, security, data, AI) and breadth (org design, commercial strategy, customer relationships, investor conversations).
  • Excellent communicator who moves between board-level strategy, customer conversations, and design reviews with the same clarity and credibility.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; computer information systems, computer science, or a related technical discipline preferred.

How We’ll Work Together

  • PracticeWise is remote-first with leadership distributed across the US. The CPO will set the operating cadence for product, engineering, and services, and join the executive team’s existing rhythms.
  • You will inherit an experienced Products and Services team — Research & Products, Training, Implementation, and Professional Development — alongside the new engineering hires.
  • You will work closely with our scientific and clinical leadership, including our co-founders on the Board, to keep the platform faithful to the evidence base that distinguishes us in the market.
  • You will be a visible voice with our customers — county and state behavioral health departments, provider networks, university partners, and the agencies on the front line.

What We Offer

  • A senior seat at the table to shape a meaningful, growing business at the intersection of evidence-based practice and youth behavioral health.
  • Competitive executive compensation
  • Comprehensive health benefits, generous PTO, and a remote-first work environment.
  • A collaborative leadership team that takes the work seriously and themselves not too seriously.

PracticeWise is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome candidates of all backgrounds and experiences.
