The Role
RLS Consultants is seeking an Associate to join its Modeling team. The successful candidate will contribute to the development, maintenance, and delivery of Excel-based pharmaceutical forecast models and quantitative analytical tools for our biopharma and medtech clients.
This position requires an individual with strong analytical foundations, a structured approach to problem-solving, and the professional judgment to critically evaluate data and model outputs. The Associate will work closely with senior consultants. Over time, the Associate will assume increasing responsibility within the project delivery process, including client-facing engagement.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Excel-based forecast and analytical models for pharmaceutical and biotech products
- Source, clean, and structure complex datasets from multiple inputs
- Perform quantitative analysis to assist in the identification of client issues and the development of client specific solutions (conjoint/multi-attribute analysis)
- Validate data inputs and model outputs, applying critical thinking to identify inconsistencies or anomalies
- Support the preparation and delivery of client-ready analytical work products
- Collaborate with senior team members across all stages of project execution
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes and modeling standards
Education & Experience
- A degree in engineering, mathematics, economics, data science, life sciences, or a related quantitative discipline
- 1–2 years of professional experience in an analytical, technical, or data-driven role; relevant fields include engineering, data science, economics, or applied research
- Prior experience in the life sciences or pharmaceutical industry is an asset
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Excel in a professional or applied research context
- Proficiency or substantive familiarity with at least one programming language (Python, R, or VBA); candidates with self-directed technical development are strongly encouraged to apply
- Knowledge of various modeling techniques such as linear and logistic regression (including multi-nomial models), time series forecasting, ARIMA, etc.
- Ability to work effectively with incomplete, unstructured, or ambiguous data
- Intellectual curiosity and a disposition toward critical inquiry; the ability and inclination to question assumptions and assess whether outputs are reasonable
- Strong attention to detail and sound analytical judgment
- Exceptional analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills
- A self-directed work ethic with the capacity to acquire new skills independently
- Adaptability and composure when working in conditions of uncertainty
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with clients and teammates
- An openness to leveraging available tools and technologies to enhance the quality and efficiency of analytical work
