About the Role

9/11 Day is seeking a strategic, relationship-driven, and highly organized Associate Director of Partnerships and Development to steward, expand, and activate corporate and foundation partnerships that fuel our programs nationwide. This role blends fundraising and business development expertise with strong operational and communications coordination to support the successful execution of partner engagements across major volunteer events, national programs, and year-round initiatives.

This position will lead sponsor relationships, cultivate new mission-aligned supporters, and collaborate closely with program, events, and marketing teams to deliver seamless, high-quality partner experiences. A core component of the role includes managing partner communications at scale—overseeing targeted mass email campaigns and structured communication journeys that guide partners from cultivation through activation, recognition, and renewal.

The Associate Director of Partnerships and Development will ensure that partners receive timely, relevant, and mission-aligned communications while maintaining a personalized, relationship-centered approach. This role is ideal for a dynamic and proactive relationship builder who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, excels at both strategy and execution, and brings a warm, professional presence that reflects the mission and values of 9/11 Day.

About 9/11 Day

9/11 Day is the nonprofit that founded and organizes the federally recognized September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, now the nation’s largest annual day of charitable engagement. Our mission is to inspire unity, empathy, and service in tribute to the victims, survivors, first responders, and members of the military affected by the attacks.

Each year, we coordinate national volunteer service projects in 50+ cities and college campuses, support youth service-learning programs, and inspire millions of Americans to engage in good deeds and acts of service.
