About Systemic Justice

Systemic Justice exists to radically shift what justice looks like – and who gets to shape it. We partner with communities fighting for racial, social, and economic justice, using strategic litigation as a force for systemic change.

As the first Black-founded and majority BPOC organisation in Europe to centre a community-driven, intersectional approach to strategic litigation, we stand firmly in a different tradition of justice work. At Systemic Justice, communities most impacted by injustice are our co-strategists: they set the direction, define the priorities, and build the long-term change they want to see. This is how we shift who holds power, who defines harm, and who drives the fight for justice.

Our teams

The successful candidate will provide essential support to our Executive Director, Senior Leadership Team, Legal Team and executive support to the Supervisory Board.

Our Executive Director oversees all of the organisation’s work and reports to Systemic Justice’s Supervisory Board.

Our Senior Leadership Team consists of our Executive Director and our Heads of Departments including Legal, Finance and Operations, and Human Resources, People and Culture, who meet regularly to coordinate and oversee the work of the organisation.

Our Legal Team co-ordinates three workstreams:

  • building the knowledge and power of communities to use the law and courts strategically in their broader pursuit of justice, on their own terms;
  • co-designing and pursuing community-driven strategic litigation; and
  • co-ordinating our community of practice for litigating NGOs, facilitating a collectively owned learning space to develop community-centred methods for strategic litigation on racial, social, economic, and environmental justice.

About the role

This is a temporary, consultancy position to assist Systemic Justice as it goes through a leadership transition and strategic reflection process during the spring and summer of 2026.

The role combines general administrative support to the Senior Leadership Team with executive assistance to the Executive Director and legal-operational support to the Legal Team. It is a varied and hands-on position requiring someone who can manage competing priorities with care and discretion.

The Administrative Assistant will assist the Executive, SLT, and Legal teams with meeting and record management, financial administration, logistics, scheduling, travel arrangements, note-keeping, and other general administrative tasks.

What you’ll do:

Legal Team support:

  • Assist with scheduling community partner meetings and community of practice sessions.
  • Support event and workshop logistics, including venue or platform coordination, participant communications, and preparation of materials (e.g. printing of booklets, agendas, etc).
  • Assist with file and case management administration, including maintaining organised and up-to-date records.
  • Liaise with suppliers and the Finance Team on the processing of invoices and payments.

Senior Leadership team:

  • Organise and administer recurring leadership meetings, including agenda preparation, document circulation, and minute-taking.
  • Manage travel bookings, itineraries, and expense reporting for the SLT.
  • Support to internal meeting scheduling.

Executive Director:

  • Assist in the preparation of materials for board meetings, including agendas, background documents, and presentations; attend and take minutes where required.
  • Track action items and follow up with internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the Executive Director.
  • Liaise with the Supervisory Board on scheduling, logistics, and document distribution.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with the highest degree of discretion.

What we hope you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience in an administrative, executive assistant, or operations support role; experience supporting senior leadership is an advantage;
  • A demonstrated commitment to anti-racism and challenging other forms of oppression;
  • An ability to manage a busy workload, meeting deadlines while paying attention to detail;
  • Experience of working with communities affected by racial, social and economic injustice;
  • Sound judgement and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential matters;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Comfort working independently in a fully remote environment across multiple time zones.

Our working language is English and written and verbal fluency is essential.

Application process

Key dates

  • Application deadline: 30 April
  • First interviews (online): 5-6 May
  • Second interviews (online): 11 May

How to apply

Your application should consist of your CV, and – instead of a traditional cover letter – a written response to these three questions (max 300 words per answer):

  • Why are you interested in working for Systemic Justice?
  • Describe a time when you had to manage multiple competing priorities. What was the situation, how did you handle it, and what did you learn from it?
  • What do you think are the three most important qualities of an Executive Assistant to the senior leadership of a non-profit like Systemic Justice?
